This illustration was produced for the cover of a fictious murder mystery novel. The concept behind the piece is a manhattan cocktail and The city of Manhattan, NY. The redish color of the liquor is similar to the color of blood. The city skyline within the glass creates a nice effect against the redish color of the liquid. Also the black color within the knife shape at the foot of the glass produces an interesting effect.
